CATCHING UP ON GOSSIP SIDE RAISE: Easy Exercise to do at Your Desk
Sitting all day without moving harms your health.
Read this blog post to learn why.
"Catching Up on Gossip Side Raise" is an easy exercise that you can do right at your work station, from my book Fitness 9 to 5.
Focus 100% to boost mindfulness as you do your daily move.
By focusing completely on what you’re doing, you’re improving your skill of being present. Getting out of your thoughts, paying attention to your body and breath: this stops overthinking and helps you start living now. And, you get toning results faster if you concentrate on the targeted muscle. Seriously!
Use an exercise band or a full water bottle for resistance to strengthen shoulders. Toned shoulders reduce risks of shoulder injuries and create a broader shoulder line, which contributes to a slimmer appearance.
Sit comfortably in your chair, shoulders relaxed, arms at sides, holding a band in front of your body or weighted water bottle, dumbbell or hand weight, in your right hand. Tighten abdominal muscles to support your back. Sit up tall with a lengthened spine (no slouching).
Exhale as you lift your right arm out to the side and up to shoulder height. Keep shoulders relaxed, your torso still, and your wrist flat, palm facing down. Visualize strong and shapely shoulders as you feel energy in your muscles. You Rock!
Inhale as you lower arm to starting position.
Do eight to twelve repetitions or work for thirty seconds.
Switch arms and repeat.
